Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to fine out the effect on releasing Orthopedic Surgery patient’s pain, nausea and vomiting after operation by PCA education and Nei-Gun Acupressure by Wrist Band
The subjects participating in this study were drawn from the patient who had been operated Orthopedic Surgery by general Anesthesia at the C university hospital located in seoul and were divided into two groups : 20 patients in experimental group and 20 patients in control group.
The level of Pain and nausea and vomiting times before operation were measured in pretest. And the degree of pain, nausea, and vomiting times after operation were measured in post-test after 2 hours, after 8 hours, after 24 hours, of operation.
The 10cm ruler of Visual Analogue scale was used for measuring the of pain and nausea. The collected data analyzed with frequency, χ²-test, t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA using SPSS 13.0.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. There was a significant difference in the level of pain between the experimental and control group.
2. There was a significant difference in the level of nausea vomiting between the experimental and control group.
In conclusion, PCA education and Nei-Gun Acupressure using Wrist Band before operation effectively decreased the level of pain and nausea and vomiting times.
There to validate the effect of PCA edcation and Nei-Gun Acupressure by Wrist Band on the post operative pain, nausea and vomiting, further research have to be repeated to the various sample
